What made you want to join the team?
Verkada’s culture was a huge draw for me. I attended one of the recruiting events and I got to meet a bunch of the team members that I was potentially going to be working with, and that really kind of sold me on joining the team. Everybody I met from Verkada was passionate, smart and motivated. Another thing that really stood out to me was how innovative the team at Verkada is. A lot of startups say, “We have the best engineers. We’re building products quickly” — but they can’t point to anything specifically.
With Verkada, you see on a timeline how rapidly we’re developing and adding to our product ecosystem. I never thought physical security could be exciting, but seeing how the platform worked for the first time, I was like, “Wow, this is the most impressive demo I’ve ever seen.”
Lastly, what excited me about joining the team was how addressable the market was. Before joining, I asked myself, “What are the different industries that are buying these specific products? Who needs this product?” To me, the answer was obvious — security devices and technology are imperative to all organizations that have a facility, building or site; whether schools, hospitals or grocery stores, security matters to everyone. The fact that there are so many use cases was really exciting to me and opened the scope of how quickly we could grow.
Who at Verkada has taken a special interest in your success or your development?
Hans Robertson, Verkada’s co-founder and executive chairman, has been a great mentor for me because of his experience growing companies into new markets. In my current role, where I’m expanding Channel Sales across the Pacific Northwest and Canada, I’m able to bounce ideas off of him and find opportunities to bring our products to market across new territories. Having this type of guidance helps me make decisions that align with both my team goals, as well as company goals. Him having these conversations with me shows me that he really takes an interest in my success and growth here at Verkada.
What are you most proud of achieving at Verkada?
One of the biggest things that motivates me is attainment. I’ve been at Verkada for just over 1.5 years now and every quarter, I’m doing roughly 130% of attainment. That number is something to be proud of, and I attribute it to the fact that I love networking. In the channel, it’s about getting out there, building relationships, understanding the needs of your partners and the organizations they work with, and then selling yourself right.

What does the future of Verkada look like and what excites you about that?
Leadership at Verkada really encourages the idea of promoting from within, and that’s something that really excites me. Not only are growth opportunities clear to those who show up every day and work hard, I’ve firsthand seen colleagues and friends be rewarded for the results they drive and that’s really motivating. For myself personally, when I look down the road, I know we’ll reach a point where we’re going to need regional managers for the channel sales managers and I believe that Verkada will help me get to that next step in my career. I’m excited to see how everyone, including myself, continues to grow at Verkada.
What projects have you enjoyed the most?
I was here in the early days as the third Channel Sales Manager at Verkada, and much of what we were doing was built from the ground up. To be able to create different programs from scratch with resellers — whether it was a SPIFF program, collaborating on client product demos, or presenting during breakout sessions at conferences — is something I really enjoyed. To see that much of what we do today stems from what we built two years ago is really rewarding.
